We at Maine Search and Rescue Dogs (MESARD) were deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Edward David, MD, JD, on September 1, 2025. Dr. David was a cherished member of our community whose dedication, generosity, and expertise left a lasting impact on our team. His involvement with MESARD went far beyond participation—he actively led and supported training exercises for our human remains detection (HRD) dog teams, sharing his knowledge with humility and care. Dr. David also gave generously, both with his time and through financial contributions that helped sustain and strengthen our mission. His legacy lives on in the work we do and the lives he touched.’
MESARD Member Memories of Dr. David
Maine Search and Rescue Dog shows our time with Dr. Ed David through the success of our human remains recovery dogs. With his guidance, we’ve committed to the highest standard of training and certification. Dr. David gave of his time and expertise. As an all volunteer organization, he believed in our dedication and the ability of our teams. When assisting authorities today, Dr. David’s words and advice follows us into the woods. We work slowly and thoroughly because we are professionals. The families expect nothing less.
